English trainer Charlie Fellowes is eyeing a return to Australia with promising galloper Luther, likely targeting the $10 million Golden Eagle at Rosehill.
It would mark Fellowes’ first visit since Prince Of Arran’s Melbourne campaigns, which included a third in the 2020 Melbourne Cup.
“I’ve been looking for a horse to travel for a while and I think this fella is probably ideal,” Fellowes said.
“He’s not slow and the tracks over there will really suit him.”
Luther was promoted to first in the Grade 2 Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga after interference and had earlier placed in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby.
Meanwhile, fellow UK trainer William Haggas is sending Sam Hawkens to contest the ATC St Leger Stakes (2600m).
“I think we’ll go now,” Haggas said, confirming quarantine plans for September 5 ahead of the October 18 feature.
Sam Hawkens secured his fourth win at Goodwood over 2816m on Saturday.
