Gangsta Granny to challenge Joliestar in Sheraco Stakes

Gangsta Granny will again test her spring credentials when she lines up in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.

The mare pushed Autumn Glow to the limit first-up in the Toy Show Quality (1100m), finishing a half-length second on a heavy 10 track.

Autumn Glow bypasses the Sheraco for the Theo Marks Stakes (1300m), but Gangsta Granny faces an even tougher rival in Everest-bound Joliestar, who has been installed a $2.25 favourite.

Trainer Michael Hawkes believes Gangsta Granny lost no admirers in defeat.
“She just got left wanting in front… by the time it balanced up, our mare probably still gets beaten but it could have been a little bit different,” Hawkes said.

Gangsta Granny sits as the $3.30 second pick in a select field of nine that also features Doncaster Mile winner Stefi Magnetica and Robert Sangster Stakes runner-up Ameena.
