Tulloch Lodge will saddle up two contrasting stayers in the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Randwick, with proven performer Vauban joined by the lightly raced Elamaz.

Vauban, a dual Group 1 placegetter, resumed with a brave third in the Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) after racing closer to the speed than expected. He also boasts a Group 3 win and a placing in the Tancred Stakes (2400m) last autumn.

“He was sharper than I expected over the mile and the 2000 metres is much better for him,” Adrian Bott said. “He looks to have trained on well and he goes there in good order.”

Elamaz, an import from France, made a sparkling local debut winning the Listed McKell Cup (2000m) in June and has trialled twice ahead of Saturday.

“Vauban is proven and has got the class at this stage,” Bott said. “But Elamaz is still a lovely horse for us going forward.”
