Trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, along with the Roll The Dice Racing team, are daring to dream as Globe steps up to the elite stage in Saturday’s $6 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

Just a month after being beaten in an 1800m handicap, the Kiwi-bred gelding will take on some of Australia’s best following his Group 1 The Might And Power (2000m) victory at Caulfield.

That win, over Treasurethe Moment and Buckaroo, prompted connections to pay a $200,000 late-entry fee.

With the scratching of former favourite Sir Delius, Globe is expected to lead the field of nine.

“The horse goes into the race at his top and he’s going to have a go, isn’t he?” Price said.

“I’m not saying he can play with the big boys if they’re on their game, but… he will be the leader and the race will be put on for everything to sit off him.”

Ben Melham takes the reins from Blake Shinn, who rides Antino.
