Group 1 Coolmore Stakes favourite MENARI has been ruled out for the spring with Just Racing reporting the highly regarded colt will require a wind operation.
The son of Snitzel was thought of by many experts as the best 2yo in the land and only a heavy track cost him winning the ultimate for a juvenile the Golden Slipper. His class took him a long way on the heavy surface in the slipper and he crossed the line in third position.
Returning as a more mature 3yo he created a huge impression winning the listed Rosebud Stakes 1100m before blowing away a quality field in the group 2 Run To The Rose 1200m.
The Gerald Ryan prepared colt started a short-priced favourite in the group 1 Golden Rose but found the 1400m a fraction too far when well beaten by his stablemate Trapeze Artist.
Menari has raced eight times for three wins and over $600,000 in prizemoney.
A stable spokesman told Just Racing they hope to have the colt back and ready to go for the rich Sydney carnival.
