Lady Moscato heads Tulloch Lodge team as standout prospect

Adrian Bott would gladly accept a Listed victory at Randwick to launch the stable’s association with major owner John Stewart, though he anticipates Lady Moscato could secure much greater successes for her owners in the future.

The two-year-old filly by Home Affairs from the multiple Group 1-placed Champagne Cuddles was bought for $1,050,000 at the yearling sales and became the initial Tulloch Lodge representative for Stewart’s Resolute Racing after finishing runner-up in the Magic Millions The Debut (1000m) at the Gold Coast last month.

“It was the first year we were able to put something together with them at the sales. John Stewart partnered with Coolmore on this filly, and a few other partners as well,” Bott said.

“She’s a really nice type for him and she fits into his model well in terms of what he’s trying to achieve internationally in racing.

“Some black type would obviously be very important to fit into that model.”

After handling the journey back from Queensland effectively, Lady Moscato heads to Sydney for Saturday’s Lonhro Plate (1000m) as the leading contender among the stable’s trio of entrants.

Bott was delighted by her initial outing where she settled rearward from a tough barrier and finished strongly, and he anticipates she will gain from that run.

“We always intended to have her up there then wanted to see her in some of the (Golden) Slipper lead ups and this race gives us the right timing,” Bott said.

“After this we can go into one of the fillies’ races and hopefully give ourselves a Slipper chance.”

Lady Moscato is accompanied in the race by fellow stable runners Caloocan Beauty, who placed fourth behind Satin Summer in her sole appearance, and newcomer Agrarian Girl, who beat the later Canonbury Stakes victor Hidrix in her latest trial.

“Caloocan Beauty was very good the other day and will be better for that experience. She looks to have improved and gone the right way,” he said.

“Agrarian Girl is giving away a bit of race experience.

“It’s an ask on debut but it’s her home track, but the form around her trial looks good now following the Canonbury and has been validated in the last seven days.”
