Among the 139 nominations for the Doncaster, 31 horses got the minimum 49kg, featuring Group 1 winners Apocalyptic, Ole Dancer, Vinrock and Nepotism, plus promising Victorian filly Sheza Alibi and top Australian Guineas contender Sixties.

The weight assigned to Autumn Glow matches what Winx shouldered to win a decade back, still the benchmark for a four-year-old mare.

Just four mares have triumphed in a Doncaster lugging more, led by Cuddle with the equivalent of 59kg in 1936, though each was aged five or beyond.

Sunline counted among them, prevailing with 58kg in 2002, yet as a four-year-old she fell short carrying 57.5kg two years earlier, nipped at the finish by three-year-old Over on 51.5kg.

Since 2000, merely three other four-year-old mares have tackled the Doncaster at 56.5kg or higher, none placing in the top 10.

More Joyous was 11th with 57kg in 2011, as Typhoon Tracy and Alizee tried at 56.5kg, ending 14th and 17th.

Autumn Glow carries 2kg above her winning load from last year’s Epsom Handicap in the Doncaster, positioning her to join the 10th horse linking those seasonal triumphs.
