Danny O’Brien Tips “equinlTy Technology

Flemington trainer Danny O’Brien is sitting high with Vow and Declare, pictured, taking out an exciting Lexus Melbourne Cup at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, giving champion jockey Craig Williams his first Cup success.

Danny O’Brien was quoted in saying ‘In being able to monitor Vow and Declares’ welfare and fitness levels we were able to build up a bank of data, and insight, into the horse over a period of time.’

‘We’ve been using “equinlTy Technology” for over four years and it gives us additional information on the horses health and fitness that would otherwise be impossible to get.’

‘The quick analysis put the horse’s welfare at the forefront and that’s important. The ongoing data enabled the trainer to make some good calls in the past and gives an edge against our competitors.’

Two days later Danny O’Brien took out the Victoria Crown Oaks with Miami Bound, having previously won the Wakeful Stakes, giving him four wins, three seconds and a third for the four-day Carnival.

Also, over the four-day Carnival trainers who adopted the “equinlTy Technology” brought home six winners including three Group 1 victories, one Group 2 and a Group 3 win, plus 11 placings.

The technology developed is in response to trainers’ desires to closely assess and monitor their horse’s welfare and fitness levels.”

Called the ‘additional eyes and ears for horse welfare’ by “equinlTy Technology”, it’s proving a competitive advantage and is a shift in horse racing as technological advancements enter the field.

It measures heart rate, recovery times, distance, split times, strides per furlong, stride length, speed, location and altitude, and is able to stream to any device in real time.

‘It’s great to see “equinlTy Technology” working seamlessly with trainers to bring them strides ahead of their competitors,’ as quoted by Keith Hanson, CEO and co-founder of “equinlTy Technology.” ‘It’s making it easier for trainers anywhere in the world to monitor the performance of their horses.

‘Horse Racing is still relatively new to the technology boom, however, not only can “equinlTy Technology” help you understand your horses. It can be the horses voice and signal vital changes that aren’t favourable.’

‘Australia is really leading the charge with this new technology and we are excited to see how trainers can expand on their wins on home turf and overseas.’

“equinlTy Technology” is a non-invasive and cost-effective system available to trainers currently. The real time views also make it ideal for owners and vets to regularly enjoy more of an understanding about how the horse is performing.

“equinlTy Technology” is best described as a web-based horse welfare, training and yard management tool. Its GPS, Stride and Heart Rate Monitoring technologies are in a lightweight girth sleeve developed to trainers’ requirements to assess and monitor their horse’s welfare and fitness.

Regardless of grade, surface or discipline, having accurate and correct data to back up the trainer’s observations and expertise gives the horse the edge. It ensures the horse is in peak physical condition come race day and in good health when in training.
