Nash Rawiller stood down from Winx Stakes meeting

James Mcdonald has picked up the plum mount on Silver Shadow Stakes favourite Four Moves Ahead after Nash Rawiller failed in his bid to get a medical clearance to ride.

Rawiller suffered an undisplaced fracture of his foot, with an open wound over the fracture, in a race day incident at Hawkesbury on Thursday when his leg became wedged between his mount Fine Ruby and a fence.

He consulted a specialist on Friday in the hope he could be cleared to fulfill his engagements for the first Group 1 meeting of the Sydney season but was unsuccessful.

Racing NSW confirmed that Rawiller had been stood down from his rides.

“Racing NSW stewards have been advised that, after obtaining the advice of a specialist, jockey Nash Rawiller has been unable to obtain a clearance to ride and therefore will not be riding at the Randwick race meeting tomorrow,” Racing NSW said in a statement.

Rawiller has been advised he cannot ride in races for two weeks, but he remains hopeful of returning in time for the Chelmsford Stakes meeting at Randwick on September 4.

The top jockey had rides in nine of the 10 races at Randwick with McDonald confirmed as his replacement aboard Four Moves Ahead, while Hugh Bowman goes onto Chat in the Show County Quality (1200m).

A replacement rider for Dreamforce in the feature, the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m), is yet to be confirmed.
