EXCLUSIVE: WHAT MAJOR TAB PAID THE BEST DIVS ON STRADBROKE DAY

10/06/15

With last Saturday being Queensland’s biggest thoroughbred race day of the year, I thought it would be an ideal day, given the big holds across all three of Australia’s major TABs to go back and recap on what particular TAB paid the best dividend on the various forms of betting on the day.

So the three TABs whose dividends were reviewed were the same old sheila that’s had a few name changes over the years but now she wants to be called UBET. She’s been the Queensland TAB, UNiTAB (wonder what that little “i” stood for – reckon I’m even money of guessing correctly) and Tattsbet before she changed her name by deed poll to UBET and UBET is the “home TAB” for each of Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. So UBET’s dividends are compared to the other two larger TABs – the New South Wales TAB and the Victorian TAB.

So I can compare apples with apples, I’ve checked all win and place dividends on the day as well as three exotic forms of betting, namely Exacta, Trifecta and First 4.

So through the nine-race card on the day they read:

* above = at least two TABs paid exactly the same dividend.

*N/A = the information was not available in the Sky Channel replays of the race.

So as you can see from the above figures there were plenty of dividends that were exactly the same across two or more TABs, leaving and across all reviewed bet types, there are 45 dividends that can be compared to each other across all advised bet types. Of the 45 dividends that can be compared, the NSW TAB paid the best dividend in 21 of the 45 cases (46.67%), UBET paid the best dividend in 13 of the 45 dividends (28.89%) and the Victorian TAB was highest in 11 of the 45 (24.44%).

If we line up the First 4 dividend in the Stradbroke on the Victorian TAB the dividend was $55205, NSW paid $53875 and UBET dividend for $1 was $42227.

Roughies arrived all over the joint and the Doomben Quadrella paid by far the best in NSW at $87,232. The lowest dividend was on the Victorian TAB and that dividend was $69,803. UBET clocked in second in the three-horse race when the Quadrella with that entity paid $78,388.

As a matter of interest, the most dramatic difference in minor exotics dividends on the day (excluding Trifecta, First 4 and Quadrella) occurred in the Queensland Guineas (Race 5) when the Exacta of Jabali and Bachman paid a massive $779 on UBET, but only $353 on the Victorian TAB and even less $295 on the NSW TAB.

Today on www.brisbaneracing.com.au there’s the first of two montages of photos from Stradbroke day at Doomben. Tomorrow on the Brisbaneracing website there’s a big montage of photos for a special Justracing website biography, so the other Stradbroke day photos will go up on the Brisbaneracing website next Monday, as Friday night timeslot is already gone as there’s an amazing montage ready to go up which show the difference between a race day of 120,000 at Tokyo and 20-odd thousand at Ipswich. I’m sure the differences will astonish you. On www.sydneyracing.com.au today there’s the story on the changes to the Miracle Mile conditions for the next running of that Group 1 feature, whilst on www.melbourneracing.com.au there’s a story on a free breeding and yearling seminar that’s happening at Oaklands Junction on 21 June, as well as an overview of Lauriston Park’s stallions for the upcoming season.
