WHAT KEY PERSONNEL AT THE HELM OF RACING QUEENSLAND GET PAID AS PER THE 2013/2014 ANNUAL REPORT TO PARLIAMENT

25/02/15

Yesterday’s website story on what Racing Queensland Chairman Kevin Dixon and Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon stated in the 2013/2014 Annual Report sparked a flurry of emails given the events of recent times in the racing industry, not only in Queensland – but nationally. Some email writers wanted to know where other publicly available information from that Annual Report could be found.

As the Annual Report for Racing Queensland is 70-odd pages long, even if you locate the document you have to then meander your way through all that information to find parts that your may be interested in.

It’s all publicly available information, so it therefore can be legally reproduced here and in my opinion that’s a good idea, as it helps educate the racing public across the three codes on a little-known part of their industry.

So today I’m reproducing and displaying on my website the pay structure of senior people at Racing Queensland, as the average person in the street wouldn’t have a clue how much a particular executive staffer in Racing Queensland is earning – but they have a right to know – as it is your and my taxes that pay these people.

So here is the list of the bulk of the salary that is paid to Racing Queensland senior staff and members of various Boards. These are the figures listed in the 2013/2014 Annual Report by Racing Queensland to State parliament, dated and signed by Kevin Dixon and Darren Condon on 28 August 2014.

The aforesaid represents the majority of the salary/wages of the persons employed in the abovementioned roles. There are additional “Short Term Employee Benefits” listed in the Annual Report and the only three worth reporting in all those above roles are, in descending order, $54,026 (Acting Chief Executive Officer), $40,500 (Chairman of Stewards) and $33,617 (General Manager Operations).

That overview will give website visitors a pretty fair idea of the remuneration packages of key personnel at Racing Queensland and you can be the judge of whether those people’s performance is commensurate with their salary.

Tomorrow I’ll reproduce a document that like the Racing Queensland Annual Report went to parliament in 2014. Hardly anyone in the racing industry will have seen this little gem but it will be reproduced in part here. Given the events of recent weeks you’ll see how the public will make a mockery of this document also.

Today on www.brisbaneracing.com.au there’s a big montage of photos from my trip to Allora a couple of weeks ago. On www.sydneyracing.com.au there’s the story on a bloke named Dunn not being done just yet in the World Drivers Championship, whilst on www.melbourneracing.com.au Matt Nicholls previews the Tasmanian race today that features The Cleaner.
