In today’s thoroughbred world no international yearling sale could be without a Frankel, who is on-track to have his first classic success with the unbeaten Soul Stirring highly favoured to win the Japanese 1000 Guineas, having won the Gr3 Japanese 1000 Guineas Trial and last season the Gr1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies.

Needing no introduction, Frankel sired a record 6 northern hemisphere 2yo Group winners in his first season, and has two colts selling at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale on 4, 5, 6 April at Newmarket, Sydney.

Frankel’s first offering is on Day 1 from Strawberry Hill Stud, a half-brother to Group 1 winner Fenway, from the immediate stakes winning family of the champion mare More Joyous.

On Day 2 Glastonbury Farms has a Frankel colt from the stakes winning Giant’s Causeway mare Lovetorn. Unfortunately, a third colt from Group 3 winner Precious Lorraine has been withdrawn.

The renowned American champion sire Tapit has a colt first foal from the US Group 3 winner Eurhrosyne selling on Day 1 from Milburn Creek. Also by Tapit, Vinery Stud has a filly first foal of the US mare Dixie Smile from a stakes winning family, and a colt from the US Group 2 winner Hour Glass.

The Epsom Derby winner and now noted classic sire Sea The Stars has an August foaled filly from the Group 3 staying mare Ready To Lift, by More Than Ready, on Day 2.  Shamardal, the French Derby winner, has a filly whose winning dam is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Rock Sturdy.

This is definitely a stallion-making catalogue termed as the ‘Best of the Best, a global who’s who of the turf.’ Focusing on a slimmer 480 lot Easter Yearling sale Inglis Bloodstock has placed an emphasis on Group 1 and Classic success, followed by future stallion and stud achievements.

Arrowfield Stud is the leading vendor with 51 top class lots with their sale-topping sire Snitzel being the leading stallion overall with 44 progeny, ahead of the modern day sire-of-sires Redoubt’s Choice with 36 lots.

Arrowfield also has a strong representation from first season sire Dundeel with 17 lots and is well supported by Animal Kingdom, Not a Single Doubt and Smart Missile.

Widden Stud has 36 yearlings on offer with their Golden Slipper winner Sebring having 35 yearlings. First season sire’s Zoustar has 26 lots in addition to Shamus Award and Star Witness.

Coolmore has again shown its strength by offering 32 yearlings for sale, with Pierro having 33 lots and Fastnet Rock 27 yearlings. Both Camelot and Declaration of War have first season yearlings.

Medaglia d’Oro is represented by 26 yearlings, Exceed And Excel 19 lots, All Too Hard and I Am Invincible both with 18 lots and So You Think 17 lots. Additional first season sires include Dawn Approach, Epaulette, Fighting Sun, Fiorente and The Factor.

This outstanding catalogue boasts 129 yearlings that are directly related to Stakes winners including 39 to today’s Group 1 winners Flying Artie, Extreme Choice, Divine Prophet, English, Yankee Rose, Preferment, Abby Marie plus Able Friend and Werther in Hong Kong. There are direct relations to young sires Dundeel, Shamus Award, Shooting Win and Star Witness.

Of the total 480 lots offered, 146 are from Stakes-winning mares including 22 Group 1 winners and 304 having black type featured in their first dam. There are first foals from Group 1 winning mares Samaready, Secret Admirer, Steps in Time and Gondokoro.

A truly world class catalogue, and representative of the enormous investment that Australasian breeders have put into the bloodstock industry.
