Former champion apprentice Andrew Adkins is enjoying a rich vein of form as the Sydney season heads into its final stretch.

Adkins bagged another Saturday double at Rosehill, guiding Motoscafo to victory in the Midway Handicap (1200m) and Freight Train in the TAB Handicap (2000m).

That follows his Rosehill success two weeks earlier when he captured the Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) aboard Touristic and another win with King’s Secret.

With several top jockeys riding in Brisbane for the winter carnival, Adkins is capitalising on increased metro opportunities.

“Any winners are good winners but obviously in town, especially on a Saturday, is much better,” Adkins said.

“I’m getting good support which I am thankful for and I’ve just got to try to execute off the back of that.”

The 2016-17 champion apprentice now has nine metro victories this season and 58 wins overall in NSW.

Having partnered Motoscafo to a win at Newcastle three starts back, Adkins used that knowledge to time her finishing burst.

“She had a really good turn of foot late at Newcastle that day,” he said.

Motoscafo has now claimed three wins from 10 starts, following in the footsteps of her half-siblings Tristate and Blazing Miss, both stakes placegetters.
