Albury races postponed because of poor air

Racing at Albury has been rescheduled with smoke haze from bushfires affecting the air quality in the area.

Friday’s meeting has been moved to Monday with scratchings reinstated except for those horses withdrawn on veterinary certificates.

Temperatures in the area area are expected to nudge 40 degrees on Friday with a predicted high of 45 on Saturday before dropping to the mid-20s by Monday.

A major fire is burning in the Jingellic area to the east of Albury.

Several meetings on the NSW South Coast have recently been called off and Racing NSW has announced a funding relief package for affected participants.
