Father-and-daughter trainers Ken and Kasey Keys face a key decision after Alibaba’s win in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings at Caulfield.

The two-year-old is not nominated for the $2 million Group 1 feature on February 21, leaving connections to weigh up a $55,000 late entry.

An alternative is the $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m) at Randwick on February 7, following his purchase from the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

“He has really settled down this prep,” Kasey said.

“He wasn’t the easiest early on but he has been gaining confidence every day.

“We’ve always known that he has the motor but it has just been a matter of him putting it together.”

Jockey Craig Newitt was equally encouraged by the colt’s progress.

“He handled everything like an absolute professional,” Newitt said.

“Despite not being nominated, Alibaba remains a $15 chance for the Blue Diamond Stakes.”
