Berry backs Pallaton to deliver in Rosebud return

Tommy Berry is confident Pallaton can make a strong statement when he resumes in Saturday’s Listed Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill.

Rated by Berry as Michael Freedman’s best two-year-old colt last season, Pallaton impressed on debut at Randwick but had excuses in his next two runs. A crossover noseband has since been added, and the colt has produced two sharp trial wins ahead of his return.

“He has put two really nice trials together so we’re pretty confident going into the weekend,” Berry said.

From barrier one against just five rivals, the Wootton Bassett colt will also appreciate any rain-affected ground.

Berry also partners Our Gold Hope in the Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap (1400m), rating her a genuine chance at $7.50.

The mare, trained by Robert and Luke Price, boasts form around Queensland Oaks and Group 2 placegetter Ceolwulf and has trialled strongly.

“She ticks a lot of boxes on the weekend,” Berry said.
