RANDWICK
Race 5 No.2 Richard Of Yorke C Waller B Avdulla
Looking at this race there looks to be three clear teams for the punters to support, Richard Of Yorke, Collateral and everything else.
Richard Of Yorke is dropping back from a tough effort when second over 3200m to the 2400m while Collateral is stepping up from last Saturday’s win over 1800m. Collateral is flying there’s no doubt about that but a mile and half at Randwick on a testing track is a completely different race to those he’s been running in.
I’m going to stick with Richard Of Yorke who I am convinced is a momentum horse and if premiership leader Brenton Avdulla can get the former European into a smooth rhythm he’ll prove too strong for his main danger.

Race 8 No.10 Level Eight Snowden Racing A Adkins
I’m playing early on LEVEL EIGHT as I think the double figure odds currently on offer are juicy for where I think he’ll be come race time. The Snowden team have put the blinkers back on the 4yo son of High Chaparral ahead of this weekend. I don’t think this race is a whole lot harder than last start when second to Pelethronius who is a chance again here but with Level Eight dropping 3 ½ kgs, blinkers back on and an improving track I am very confident he’ll be amongst the major spoils.

FLEMINGTON
Race 9 No.9 Jaminzah C Waller C Newitt
When the fields come out on Wednesday for Flemington and after a quick look I expected Jaminzah to open in the betting around $8-$10. Many of my friends are in the horse so I probably harbour a little bias but after years in racing I’ve learnt loyalty doesn’t help you back a winner. That said I though his winning effort last start at Sandown was full of merit when coming from last and making a long run. He looks a real trier to me and from an ideal barrier, dropping 4kg and a firmer track all being to his advantage I think at such juicy odds I he deserves a little dabble each way.

DOOMBEN
Race 5 No.1 Rudy H Page T Clark
This is it for RUDY. It’s D-Day.
It was 14 May last year when Rudy last saluted the judge but all being equal he looks the bet of the day at Doomben tomorrow. He is the class runner which is evident as he will carry 59.5kg with the other six runners all on 54kgs. Weight can stop a train but with clear running it won’t be enough to stop Rudy. Over this course and distance two starts back he was a little unlucky not to finish closer to Single Gaze when beaten 1.3 lengths in the group 2 P J O’Shea Stakes. A repeat of that run and the race is over. A fortnight ago in the Brisbane Cup he got a mile back and found trouble a few times but with only a few runners here he won’t find too much if any traffic. Pemberley looks the obvious danger on form and as he is favourite with Corey Brown to ride for Ciaron Maher. I am banking on Rudy being too classy as I am ignoring the fact that he has yet to win past 1650m.
