Braith Nock closes in on NSW riding title after Rosehill treble

Apprentice jockey Braith Nock continues his stellar rise, moving within striking distance of the NSW jockeys’ premiership.

Nock notched his first city treble at Rosehill on Saturday, narrowing the gap to leader Ash Morgan to just two wins with six weeks left in the season.

He steered Super Norwest to victory in the TAB Highway Handicap (1400m), then saluted on Don’t Forget Jack in the Racing And Sports Handicap (1400m), and Mickey’s Medal in the Ranvet Handicap (1500m).

With Morgan’s Brisbane rides scratched, Nock now sits on 98 NSW wins for the season.

“It’s in reach, definitely,” Nock said.
“He’s getting a few good opportunities too… but the apprentices’ title is looking pretty good.”

He will miss the coming week due to suspension but returns for Randwick on Saturday.

Nock’s metro tally now stands at 33, nine ahead of Molly Bourke, and he’s cracked 100 winners nationally for the first time.

Don’t Forget Jack rebounded from a poor run last start, impressing the Archibald stable with his return to form.

“He enjoys softer tracks… he will be winning,” said stable rep Megan O’Leary.
