Trainer Daniel Bowman admitted to being nervous before Bubble Palace took to the track for her second race start at Warrnambool.

A winner at Ballarat on debut, Bubble Palace was a heavily supported $1.90 favourite to take out the VOBIS Gold Strike (1000m) on Tuesday.

Bowman need not have worried as the daughter of Rich Enuff, under Harry Coffey, raced to a 3-¾ length victory from Dusse ($5.50) with Soju Session ($16) a further 1-¼ lengths away third.

“I don’t get nervous very often, unless I think they’re pretty serious, and I was toey at Ballarat and I was probably toeyer today,” Bowman said.

“It’s just a relief. When you’ve got Frank and Christine Cook buying a yearling for this price ($180,000), and they could have given it to anyone, but they gave it to me and Denita and our staff, and entrusted us, so it’s just good to be able to repay them.”

A two-year-old filly, Bowman said Bubble Palace was deceiving, being more like a colt.

“She’s a big horse,” Bowman said.

“It was a fillies race and she looked like a colt in amongst them. She’s got a good cruising speed and can quicken off it.

“She’s professional, but time will tell when things don’t go her way up on speed, but we’ve got time to give her a break now and teach her that.”

Bowman said he would consider sending Bubble Palace for a break to allow her to strengthen further and prepare for a spring campaign.

“There’s plenty of those fillies races that will suit her down the ground,” Bowman said.

“We’ll probably give her a break now and let her grow up a bit more and have some fun in the spring.”
