Catch The Glory delivers timely stakes win in The Warra

Jason Coyle nearly scratched Catch The Glory from The Warra, but his late decision to run proved spot on as the mare surged to an impressive stakes victory at Kembla Grange.

The Starlight Stakes had originally been her target, but when The Warra field came up lighter than expected, Coyle reconsidered — even as rain and a deteriorating track made him hesitant.

“I thought I’d have a look at the track… and then I looked at my phone and Peter had already scratched (Zealously),” Coyle said. “He beat me to it, and lucky he did.”

With favourite Zealously withdrawn, Jason Collett steered Catch The Glory ($4.60) to the better ground out wide, nailing The Black Cloud ($4 fav) late, with Sunrise ($4.20) holding third.

Coyle confirmed the mare will head straight to the paddock.

“That will be her done for this preparation… hopefully in the autumn, I feel like she has got another level to give,” he said. “She is a stakes winner now.”
