RACE 4 NO.17 STREETS OF AVALON
STREETS OF AVALON is flying at present and a repeat of his last start effort when winning here albeit over a 100m further than today and he will record another first placing. After 19 career starts he had only won once with 11 minor placings which had earned him an unflattering name but I believe his last start win will now kick him along. He has drawn very wide but he looks to have enough early speed to offset the gate pretty quickly.
RACE 5 NO.6 TONY NICCONI
This is a really competitive race and it’s usually the proven performers that I side with but on this occasion I’m jumping aboard TONY NICCONI who has only raced once albeit he recorded a dominant win at Caulfield. That was seven weeks ago suggesting that effort really pleased David Hayes and his co-trainers putting him away so he could compete in the spring riches. This is step up there is no doubt of that but what he did on debut suggested he is ready to tackle the better horses.
RACE 8 NO.7 BRAVE SONG
BRAVE SONG backs up from running a gallant third last Saturday behind Voodoo Lad and Home Of The Brave in the group 3 Aurie Star. First up he came from off the pace to win at Flemington and then had a nice three week break. The quick back up is my only little concern but with a five kilo pull in the weights against his main danger Osborne Bulls I am hoping he will be able to pinch a break and hold him at bay.
