Celebrating Our Volunteers: John Biggs

John Biggs is the Secretary and Treasurer of the Country Racing Association of Western Australia.

Racing is engrained in John’s family history and after being a part of the industry for over 25 years, John Biggs took on the position of Secretary and Treasurer with the Country Racing Association in 2011.

John dedicates his time to the Country Racing Association of Western Australia, representing 25 country clubs from Kununurra to Esperance, and assisting in the general operations of the industry. The colourful race meetings they conduct every year provide a major contribution towards the rich traditions of regional Western Australia.

John is passionate about country racing and highlights its importance to the local community,

“Racing is all about the effect on small communities, these clubs are all run by volunteers who give their all to create the experience. For a lot of small towns, the annual Ladies Day will be the only event of the year where they can really get dressed up and celebrate,” John said.

“I love the thrill and get so much enjoyment from helping out the clubs. Anything I can do to help, I will do.”

John looks forward to continuing his support of country racing in Western Australia.

Here at Racing and Wagering Western Australia, we want to say thank you to all our volunteers who play a vital role in the success of the WA racing industry.
