Champion sprinter Chautauqua has twice refused to jump out of the gates in consecutive barrier trials at Randwick.

After he stayed in the gates for Tuesday’s heat, Chautauqua was added to the next trial but again refused to leave the stalls.

The seven-year-old is scheduled to begin his autumn campaign in the Group One Canterbury Stakes on Saturday week on his way to a tilt at a fourth TJ Smith Stakes win..
