Promising filly Cherish Me is set to return to the races this Saturday at Caulfield in the Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap (1200m).
The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper was once among the top fancies for Melbourne’s premier juvenile race, the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), where she finished ninth after starting second favourite.
Craig Williams will ride Cherish Me on Saturday, replacing Thomas Stockdale and Jamie Mott, who rode her in her first two starts.
The filly has had two recent jump-outs, improving to finish second at Cranbourne Synthetic on July 14 with Williams aboard.
Maher said she’s returned well from her break and is targeting the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) on August 16.
“She did really well during her break, and I think she’s still getting there,” Maher said.
He also hinted at longer-term ambitions, potentially aiming for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).
Stablemate Brazenga will also line up, having placed third on debut at Bendigo.
