Ciaron Maher’s stable remains in contention for Australian GuineasDesirable Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Another Prophet capped her spring campaign with a victory in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield in November. She resumed on January 25 at Sandown, finishing a close fourth to Royal Insignia, who is the favorite for the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.

Jack Turnbull, assistant trainer at Maher’s Cranbourne base, is looking forward to seeing Another Prophet back against the fillies, despite the 59.5kg weight.

“She is the Thousand Guineas winner that returned against the boys in the Manfred Stakes and was very good at Sandown,” Turnbull said.

Another Prophet will be joined by stablemate Qatars Choice, making her Melbourne debut after racing exclusively in Sydney. Qatars Choice won a maiden at Warwick Farm on New Year’s Day and then finished second in a benchmark 72 race at Randwick on January 25.

“She is a lighter-framed horse but can gallop, and she had no luck last time,” Turnbull said.

Both horses are expected to run well, with hopes that Another Prophet can continue towards the Australian Guineas.
