Cloudy to shine in Breeders’ Stakes 2021

Godolphin is chasing more black type success in Adelaide with Cloudy set to line up in the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes.

Godolphin is returning over the border into South Australia chasing another stakes race victory with two-year-old filly Cloudy.

A last start winner of the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) on April, Cloudy returns to try and add the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday to her record.

James Cummings and Godolphin have been a supporter of the Adelaide carnival in recent years and won last year’s feature sprint, The Goodwood, with Trekking.

Cloudy has so far been Godolphin’s and Cummings’ sole victory at this year’s carnival, although they will be hoping to build on that in coming weeks.

Translation, who Cloudy defeated in the Dequetteville Stakes, returns to Adelaide next week chasing victory in the Listed Without Fear Stakes, formerly known as the Queen Adelaide Stakes, over 1050m at Morphettville.

Cummings is confident Cloudy, a two-time winner from six starts, will appreciate the rise in trip to 1200 metres on Saturday.

Cloudy is one of six fillies, taking on four males, in the field of 10.

“She gave her sire Frosted another Stakes win last start and on the strength of that she can repeat the dose,” Cummings said.

“While these races are always hard to win, her form is strong, she has an edge in experience and she’s in good order.”

The Breeders’ Stakes is one of two races, along with the Chairman’s Stakes, that will be run on the main Morphettville track with the remaining seven races to held on the inner Parks circuit on Saturday.
