Craig Williams guides SA filly to debut win at Flemington

When Adelaide trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly send their horses across to Melbourne, they invariably return home empty handed.

And the beneficiary is usually leading jockey Craig Williams who has struck up a good association with the pair.

The Jolly’s had a double at last year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, Kemalpasa and Alleboom, that were both ridden to success by Williams and they continued that trend on on Thursday when See You In Heaven was sent across the border for her debut start in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m) at Flemington.

Settling up on the speed, See You In Heaven ($9) scored by 1-¼ lengths from the $5.50 favourite Satin Love with Bohemian Daisy ($26) a short-head away third.

Williams said See You In Heaven had been very well educated for her debut outing.

“She was really great and made my job easy,” Williams said.

“Everything that Richard told me is exactly what happened.

“He said that she doesn’t bounce out of the gates, she props up and she did that today, but she’s got really nice speed.

“The only thing about her characteristics is that she likes to kick other horses. That’s the only thing I had to deal with pre-race and that she didn’t injure anyone else.

“She’s very professional, has very good ability and everyone could see that today.”

See You In Heaven is a daughter of Divine Prophet from the Anabaa mare Shine On Anna and was a $90,000 yearling purchase at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast earlier this year.
