Cup hope Hamada injured during trackwork

A second Charlie Appleby-trained Godolphin galloper has suffered an injury during trackwork at Werribee.

Hamada has been taken to the Werribee equine hospital to determine the full extent of his injuries suffered on Saturday morning.

“Hamada went lame at exercise this morning at Werribee and is under veterinary supervision at the moment,” Appleby said on social media.

In Australia preparing for a shot at the Melbourne Cup, Hamada joins stablemate Emotionless on the injured list.

Bone scans on Monday will determine whether Emotionless will be in a suitable condition to accept for next Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.

Emotionless remains in the Caulfield Cup after second declarations were taken on Tuesday but has been restricted to light walking.
