Trainer Steve Wolfe and jockey Shaun McGruddy were back in the winner’s circle after capturing their second feature country race in seven days.

Just a week after Rope Them In’s victory in the $400,000 Bluff Knoll (1099m), Currimundi triumphed in the Listed Pinjarra Cup (2300m) on Sunday.

The six-year-old, a son of Playing God, powered home from ninth at the turn to defeat Fear The Wind by a short neck, with Demolish finishing third.

Currimundi claimed his third Cup win from 41 starts, improving on his recent seventh-place finish in the Bunbury Cup (2019m).

McGruddy was pleased with the horse’s improved performance, noting, “He didn’t lose much ground around the turn today.”

Wolfe marked his second Pinjarra Cup win, almost 30 years since King Brian’s victory in 1999.
