Diuretic forces Maloney out at Caulfield

Jockey Ryan Maloney has been stood down from his rides at Caulfield after admitting to taking a banned substance.

Maloney had six rides at the Easter Saturday meeting, including pre-race favourite Theanswermyfriend in the Group Three Victoria Handicap.

Racing Victoria steward Robert Cram, in charge of Saturday’s meeting, said Maloney had admitted medicating with a diuretic prior to a sample being provided on the morning of the meeting.

Stewards immediately stood down the jockey and opened an inquiry.

Maloney was not allowed to leave the course until he had provided a urine sample.
