Edgley strikes again as $41 outsider stuns punters at Sandown

After delighting punters at Flemington, apprentice Hannah Edgley and the Leon and Troy Corstens-Will Larkin team left them stunned a week later with a surprise win at Sandown.

Edgley, who claimed her first Flemington win aboard Marble Nine last week, made it back-to-back metro victories with an upset ride on $41 shot Santa Ana Moon in the Quayclean Handicap (1400m).

“To be given these opportunities, on these types of horses, is fantastic,” Edgley said.
“It’s really good to repay the Corstens team… hopefully it’s the start of a very successful relationship.”

Larkin praised Edgley’s form and said the gelding was better suited by the change in tactics.

“The horse got a lot wrong at Cranbourne… he’s not mentally right to go forward,” Larkin said.
“We instructed Hannah to get him back, get some cover—it was good to see him finish off.”

Santa Ana Moon is now bound for the Silver Bowl Series Final (1600m) at Flemington on July 5.
