English has capitalised on a ground-saving ride from Tim Clark to upset the favourites in the Group One Doomben 10,000.

Tucked away just behind the leaders on the rail, English took a split at the 300m, reached the front at the 100m and had enough in hand to hold off the fast-finishing Impending.

Le Romain took the minor placing, just ahead of the favourite and last year’s winner Redzel.
