Eros set to reign at Sale

Anthony & Sam Freedman have ruled the two-year-old division in Melbourne this season and have another strong winning chance at Sale on Wednesday with Eros.

Having won three of the last four Blue Diamonds, the stable have asserted their dominance as the best two-year-old stable in Victoria and another talented colt looks well placed to make a winning return on Wednesday.

Eros, a son of Capitalist, had two starts in January this year and whilst narrowly beaten in both, co-trainer Anthony & Sam Freedman noted the form out of his defeats has certainly stood up.

“He’s out of two hot races. Xtravagant Star just beat him on debut and went on to win the Inglis Millennium, and Counttheheadlights (who beat Eros at Moonee Valley) was competitive in Group One races,” Sam said.

Eros has been given two jump outs at Flemington to prepare for this campaign, and the stable are confident he can make a winning return before hopefully stepping up in grade later this Winter or in the Spring.

“He’s coming along well; he’s trialled up nicely and it looks a nice race to kick off the preparation.”

“We’ll be guided by his performance on Wednesday and assess afterwards whether we press on through the Winter or give him a breather and look towards the Spring,” Sam said.

Impressive Flemington debut winner Doull has already been tipped out by the stable with the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) a likely target, whilst Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) winner Daumier is also spelling with a view to the Spring.

Eros is the $2.30 favourite (TAB) on Wednesday with leading Melbourne premiership jockey Jye Mcneil booked to ride.
