Seven-year-old Fast ‘N’ Rocking has snapped a two-year absence from the winner’s circle in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes at Caulfield.
Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said it was satisfying to see the gelding win for the first time since the 2015 Caulfield Cup carnival in Saturday’s Listed 1400m race.
Fast ‘N’ Rocking ($10) was having his second start of this campaign and settled just off the pace before emerging early in the straight to challenge leader Religify ($5).
The pair battled it out to the finish, with Fast ‘N’ Rocking prevailing by a short half-head, with another 1-1/4 lengths to the winner’s fast-finishing stablemate Dibayani ($19) in third.
“He’s won $1.3 million in stake money before today so he’s certainly a great campaigner but he just doesn’t win too often,” co-trainer Tom Dabernig said.
“He often has a short margin go the wrong way for him so it was good today to get up by a short margin.
“He’s a horse who’s certainly a stable favourite.
“He loves it at Caulfield and I think his first-up run (for third) showed he was in for a good preparation and he franked that today.”
Fast ‘N’ Rocking has won six of his 52 starts.
