Warwoven’s place in Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic is in serious doubt after the colt showed signs of lameness on Friday morning.

Queensland stewards conducted routine pre-race veterinary inspections ahead of the $3 million feature.

The Sword Of State colt was found to be lame in the off foreleg.

Stablemate Masvingo, who shares similar ownership interests, was also inspected and found to be lame in the near foreleg.

Both horses are trained by Bjorn Baker and will be re-examined early on Saturday.

“Both runners will undergo a further examination tomorrow morning prior to scratching time,” Racing Queensland stewards said in their release.

Any decision to rule Warwoven out would significantly alter the complexion of the 1200-metre race.

The unbeaten colt had been as short as $1.70 before concerns about his condition emerged.

Purchased for $380,000 at the Gold Coast yearling sales, Warwoven has led betting since his dominant Eagle Farm win on January 3.

That victory followed an equally impressive debut success at Randwick in December.

The next line of betting is headed by unbeaten Zip Lock at $6, ahead of Tornado Valley at $8 and Shiki at $11.
