Ferguson quits Godlolpin – anyone else?

John Ferguson has resigned from Godlolphin.

John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed’s right-hand and confidant resigned from his position as chief executive of Godolphin overnight bringing to a partial end the infighting at Godolphin.

Ferguson was in charge of the Sheikh’s global racing, training and breeding operation and if the mail is right the departures are far from over.

Ferguson released a statement published in the UK based newspaper The Telegraph that his decision was in the best interests of all parties.

“Given the recent articles in the media, it was clear my position was untenable. In times such as these, what matters is the future and my stepping down will allow everyone to draw a line under things and move forward.”

“All the staff at Godolphin are wonderful people who work so hard for the greater good and I want to thank each and every one.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed has given me so much over the years – trust, opportunities, amazing experiences and, perhaps most importantly, his kindness and counsel. For all these things, I thank him with all my heart.”

Managing director of Godolphin in Ireland, Joe Osborne, will replace Ferguson on an interim basis.
