Flemington preview & best- Bruce Clark

FLEMINGTON

BEST BET:             SIXTIES GROOVE     Race 2 #5

BEST VALUE:       HELLOVA STREET     Race 9 #1

Race 1:        7-4-2-1

MINTHA to run favourite again here (around $2.3) and hard to beat though yet to win 3 goes 1600m. That said the horse I am backing PAGEANTRY has a 1/17 record and also winless from 3 at 1600m. But this is 1st full campaign for Weir, Geelong run end of 1425m was good and trialled again with some killer instinct at Warracknabeal. So taking the $7 and banking on Weir getting this filly with talent right at 3rd run in. ELLE GAGNE comes though the CASA DE LAGO/Mintha race at The Valley and have to be included.

SUGGESTED: PAGEANTRY and hope.

Race 2:       5-7-3-6

Well now is the time for SIXTIES GROOVE, 4th run here, quick back-up, out to 2000m, limited opposition – wins. Just have to now take the $1.75. BRIGADIER is in great form and being well ridden by Kate Walters. GRAND DREAMER is ready to better compete, SECOND BULLET gets a forgive for fading effort here last time.

SUGGESTED: Load up SIXTIES GROOVE.

Race 3:      2-4-3-1

MILES OF KRISHAN has come back in good form and held HUSSY’S GLOW narrowly and DREAMS OF PARIS easily last start. Have been backing   MISS GUNPOWDER down in the weights against the males last few runs, back to own sex here but shoots up to 60kg giving main rivals 6kg. MOONLOVER is honest and gets good draw. SHARING is the fresh one and a positive resuming at 1400m here

SUGGESTED: Careful – tipping MILES OF KRISHAN but respecting market.

Race 4:      4-1-3-6

Am a fan of MOUNT KILCOY (would have been a better one had it beaten REMEMBER THE NAME (who had good run) here last time. Has a 1.5kg turnaround here but reckon more experienced and resolute now. GAULOIS gave these weight here last time, does again but a sure chance. ELITE DRAKE went too keenly when I liked it last week, winning (non-claiming) apprentice goes back on.

SUGGESTED: Very keen MOUNT KILCOY.

Race 5:       6-1-7-4

Market suggests and I agree two key winning chances and that are in my order GOLDIFOX over GOOD ‘N’ FAST – the quinella pair from the 1400m preparation run for this and turning around the finishing placings at 1600m. Think the 5kg weight difference and big swing to Goldifox is very significant in final assessment. GREGORIAN CHANT is an improver off beating older horses last ime and thinking INKSLINGER can run on into a place.

SUGGESTED: GOLDIFOX to win.

Race 6:       4-5-11-2

LYCURGUS and Oliver are an irresistible combination, rides this horse (and most) perfectly, was poorly ridden again the also in-form CHOYSA two runs back but Oliver again got it right here a fortnight ago. Best value BENALL, GREY LION has no wins here but is teasing one is coming.

SUGGESTED: Faith in horse and rider – LYCURGUS.

Race 7:      1-9-2-11

Mmmmmmm – Ok, tipping NATURE STRIP. So $1.5 into $1.45 already but you know the story (almost a track record on Weir debut on a soft 5 track), you saw the performance (created Everest talk) and meets those that vainly chased that day so much better – eg I AM SOMEONE is 7.5kg worse off for 4.5 lens. EL MAGNIFICENCE is 4kg worse off but at $51 can run a place. BEL SONIC had excuses at The Valley, think Flemington will suit.

SUGGESTED: NATURE STRIP – but everyone will tell you that. And rightly so.

Race 8:      6-10-2-8 (17*)

*if SILENTZ gets in is promoted top of the list. Exciting horse. On what we have, Weir has OZI CHOICE flying and with a 5kg turnaround on CHAMOIS ROAD have to think that is enough to roll on at 1600m and prove hard to catch and break these up. COOL CHAP is well graded. MAGIC CONSUL is absolutely flying, awkward draw, no wins Flemington. MOSS ‘N’ DALE promoted if rain arrives.

SUGGESTED: Wait till tomorrow. SILENTZ will be shorter than $8 if gets in, OZO CHOICE the one to beat.

Race 9:      1-5-3-8

HELLOVA STREET has impressive overall record and fresh here 1200m is interesting. Has 4/7 record fresh and resuming since leading up G1 horses (Humidor and co) in the Blamey (1600m). Oliver booking a plus. MAN FROM UNCLE did enough at 1100m up straight fresh here and 2nd run for Weir can see happening. HUSSON EAGLE comes through same race, 1200m? DIVINE QUALITY ran 2nd that race, runs well but hasn’t won this time in.

SUGGESTED: Bit of class in HELLOVA STREET.
