Floozie out to boost value and pedigree in Tattersall’s Tiara

Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara could catapult Floozie into elite broodmare territory, with the well-bred mare aiming for a career-defining Group 1 victory.

The Tony Gollan-trained four-year-old boasts standout bloodlines—by Zoustar out of former Group 1 winner Catchy, one of Fastnet Rock’s best daughters.

A win in the final Group 1 of the Australian season, restricted to fillies and mares, would make Floozie one of the most valuable mares in the country.

After beginning her career in Victoria, Floozie has flourished in Queensland, winning four straight including the Listed Silk Stocking and the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m).

“She’s got a lovely racing style. She’s a beautiful mare,” Gollan said.

“Mares in form, they tend to hold that form… I doubt there’s a mare in better form than her.”

Catchy’s other foals haven’t reached Floozie’s heights, further elevating her as the standout of the family. A Tiara win would cement her place among Australia’s most sought-after mares.
