Former WA filly Seannie to run in Quezette

Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will unveil a new recruit when Perth stakes winner Seannie steps out in the Quezette Stakes.

The Cranbourne trainers have Seannie and Garrard nominated for Saturday’s Group Three 1100-race for three-year-old fillies at Caulfield and also the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) in Sydney.

Busuttin said at this stage Seannie would run in the Quezette while he planned to wait another week with Garrard.

Seannie won two of her four starts in Western Australia as a two-year-old, including the Listed Supremacy Stakes, when trained by Simon Miller.

Busuttin says Seannie’s owner approached them to train her and he is excited to be getting her to the races on what he has seen.

“We looked at her videos and I was very impressed with what I saw,” Busuttin said.

“She arguably should be unbeaten. But she’s a stakes-winning filly and looks to possess a good turn of foot.

“She’s had two jump-outs here at Cranbourne and impressed us.

“I get the feeling she’s probably a 1600 metre-plus filly. With her racing style the 1100 metres might be a bit sharp, but in saying that I don’t know.

“We’ve got Dwayne Dunn on her and she has galloped very well so we’ll find out a bit more about her.”

Seannie is likely to be put on a path towards the Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m), and Busuttin said she might get over 2000m and further.

Connections will get an immediate spring guide with the Quezette nominations headlined by Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy along with a host of other talented fillies.
