Godolphin well represented at Morphettville

James Cummings and Godolphin will have strong representation at Morphettville as the carnival comes to a close.

As the curtain draws on another successful Adelaide Racing Carnival, James Cummings and Godolphin hope to go out in style.

The royal blue colours of Godolphin will be worn in three races – the Group 1 Goodwood by Viridine, the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic by Flexible while there will be dual representation in the Group 3 David Coles AM Stakes through Salamanders and Heresy.

The latter two are two-year-olds, and the stables’ feature winners at this year’s carnival have come through their juvenile ranks with Cloudy winning twice.

Salamanders is the more experienced of Saturday’s pair and will be lining up for her sixth start on Saturday.

The daughter of Animal Kingdom is coming off a Geelong maiden win over 1112m on April 30.

Jamie Kah takes the ride, replacing Damien Oliver who sticks with Heresy.

Cummings sees the rise in trip as ideal for Salamanders.

“She won with plenty of authority last start at Geelong, suggesting the extra distance here won’t present any problems,” Cummings said.

Heresy is a daughter of Street Boss and has drawn perfectly in gate three for Oliver.

At her only start, Heresy settled in the second-half of the field before winding up late to go down narrowly when second over 1200m at Geelong on April 20.

“There was a lot to like about her debut at Geelong and we’re looking forward to seeing her display the benefit of that experience on Saturday,” Cummings said.

Both Godolphin runners share the second line of betting at $5.50 with Butter Blonde while the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Karacasu is the $3.30 favourite.
