Graeme Hinton is set to become the new chief executive of Racing NSW, succeeding Peter V’landys. The board has unanimously backed the experienced administrator for the prominent role.

Hinton has been acting in the CEO capacity since July and will officially assume the position on December 1st. This follows over a decade of dedicated service to Racing NSW, where he previously held the title of Chief Operating Officer.

As a crucial figure alongside V’landys during a significant period of industry expansion, Hinton played an instrumental part in the successful launch of The Everest, the broadening of the NSW Spring Carnival, and the enhancement of Racing NSW’s equine welfare initiatives.

Dr. Saranne Cooke, the Chair of Racing NSW, stated that industry backing for Hinton has been “resounding” after the board sought input from key stakeholders.

V’landys also expressed strong support for his successor.

“Racing is extremely lucky to have Graeme. He is one of the rare individuals who have deep knowledge of every aspect of the racing industry.”

Hinton conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the industry.

“It is a privilege to lead such an incredible industry that I have grown up around and have spent my working life in. Racing is part of the economic and social fabric of our entire state. It provides employment to tens of thousands of people and entertainment to many, many more.”

He added, “I look forward to working closely with the Racing NSW Board, our clubs, participants and industry partners to build on these strong foundations to ensure NSW remains at the forefront of racing in Australia and internationally.”
