Kay Cee gearing up for Winter racing return

Neville Parnham has pencilled in the Belmont Sprint, the Hyperion Stakes and Strickland Stakes as the focus for Kay Cee.

“She is really good,” Parnham said.

“She’s had a nice spell and needed it.

“She’s been back in work for about three weeks.

“She does appear happy and is enjoying her training.

“At this point, all things being equal, she will target the three Belmont races.

“She does well at Belmont and races well there.

“She wasn’t at her best last campaign and raced below her best.

“But she looks real good now .”

Kay Cee won the Lee Steere Stakes second up into her campaign last year and was unplaced in the Railway Stakes (1600m) and Kingston Town Classic (1800), a race she won in 2019.

Meanwhile Parnham said Indian Pacific had bounced out of last Friday’s Group 1 encounter at Moonee Valley in excellent condition.

Runner-up in the Hoysted (1000m) and Newmarket Handicap (1200m) leading in, Indian Pacific ran 11th to Masked Crusader.

“He was bouncing out of his skin, he was feeling that well,” Parnham said.

“I’m pretty sure he will come home and prepare for a spring campaign.

“I’m not sure if he was really suited to Moonee Valley.

“The lights and tighter turns can be testing.

“But he always tries his heart out.”

Parnham said Platoon is likely to extend his Victorian campaign and race either this week at Bendigo or next week.
