Unheralded Gytrash has produced the best run of his career to claim the Group One Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

In winning the $750,000 weight-for-age sprint over 1000m, South Australian-trained Gytrash defeated dual Everest hero Redzel with Loving Gaby finishing third.

The odds-on favourite Nature Strip was fourth, unable to match the placegetters over the final 200m.
