Harry’s Yacht impresses at Caulfield with dominant win

The training trio of Leon & Troy Corstens and Will Larkin will take a cautious approach before confirming if Harry’s Yacht backs up over a mile at Flemington next Saturday.

The three-year-old was an impressive 2¼-length winner in the Remembering Robbie Lang Handicap (1440m), with the Silver Bowl Series Final (1600m) at Flemington now under consideration.

Starting at $4.40, Jye McNeil guided the Harry Angel gelding to an early lead in the straight, eventually cruising clear to beat Yaldi ($18), with Butternut Princess ($17) a neck away in third.

Larkin said they’ll monitor how the gelding recovers before committing to the step up.

“I didn’t know if he was going to be that dominant at the back end of 1400 (metres), but he was,” Larkin said.

Now a four-time winner from 13 starts, the stable believes the gelding is beginning to mature.

“His breeding would suggest probably a mile is going to be the best thing for him.”

McNeil, who notched his 76th win of the season, added: “He seemed to have floated a bit late, but he was out in front by himself.”
