Trainer Jason Warren is eager to make a strong debut from his new Flemington stable as Benedetta prepares for the Black Caviar Lightning.
Warren recently took over 18 boxes at Flemington, previously occupied by Mathew Ellerton, and gave Benedetta a jump-out down the straight to ready her for the Group 1 sprint over 1000m on February 7.
Benedetta finished third in the jump-out, won by Lightning rival Traffic Warden, with Switzerland, the favourite for Saturday’s race, placing fifth.
Espionage and Isthmus, also in the jump-out, were not entered for the race.
Warren, who still operates from Graebar Park near Mornington, sees the Flemington stables as an ideal extension to his operations.
The facility allowed Benedetta to familiarize herself with the straight course, as she hasn’t raced at Flemington since last March when finishing fourth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).
“She’s terrific, and I’m really pleased with her,” Warren said.
Benedetta has settled in well at Flemington, with Warren taking her to Graebar Park for a quiet lead-up to the race, allowing her time to relax in the paddock and enjoy a beach visit earlier this week.
“We just wanted to have a nice happy week,” Warren said, ensuring Benedetta maintains her regular race-day routine.
