Jockey Billy Egan banned for four months

Victorian jockey Billy Egan has been suspended for four months after producing a urine sample showing the presence of a banned substance.

Egan, who was tested at the Mildura meeting on July 28, has had the beginning of the suspension back-dated to August 20, the day he was stood down from riding.

At a Racing Victoria stewards hearing on Tuesday, the panel took into account Egan’s guilty plea, personal circumstances and forthright evidence.

Egan can resume riding trackwork, trials and horse handling once he has provided a sample clear of any banned substance.

He can return to race riding on December 21.
