What the jockeys said after the Arrowfield Sprint

An early double for the David & Ben Hayes & Tom Dabernig stable as classy filly Catchy burst back to her best.

Find out what the jockeys made of their horses’ runs in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Joao Moreira (Catchy): “ “She settled nicely, where she likes to be in the race and she finished off the race with all the power that’s she got.

“She had everything in her favour today, she got a beautiful run down the outside and once she did, she just dashed home.”

“Lovely to be riding another winner for David [Hayes]. It’s such a great feeling to be riding another Group winner in Australia.”

Corey Brown (Showtime): “He ran really, really good. He got a little bit revved up with the wind out there. He settled in behind Houtzen and got a bit fierce but still ran really well.”

Kerrin McEvoy (I Am Excited): “There wasn’t much tempo in the race. I was there on the corner but we got outgassed the last bit. She’s taken on all before her this prep and there is more in store for her next prep.”

Mark Zahra (Pariah): “It was a fair effort.”

Damian Lane (Perast): “He got stuck working into the breeze and it told on his finish late.”

Ben Melham (She Will Reign): “She was disappointing.”

Dwayne Dunn (Booker): “She ran extremely well. That wind is rather strong punching into it. It took its toll on the leader and myself late in the race.”

Hugh Bowman (Viridine): “We didn’t get a lot of room but the reason for that is I couldn’t relax him to get him in a rhythm. I had to pick runs which didn’t come.”

Glyn Schofield (Houtzen): “She jumped and led with no real pressure. The pattern of the day was against her.”
