Former Godolphin trainer John O’Shea has faced a penalty hearing in Sydney over the strangles case.

O’Shea appeared before Racing NSW stewards on Tuesday after being found guilty of giving false evidence in an investigation into a case of strangles in the Godolphin stable last year which was not reported.

O’Shea, who resumed training in his own right this month, urged stewards to impose a fine rather than a suspension with the panel to announce its decision on Tuesday afternoon.
