Four Moves Ahead set to return in the Silver Shadow Stakes

She was the first filly across the line in the Golden Slipper and Four Moves Ahead will be given every chance to prove she is the best of her age and gender during the Sydney spring.

Trainer John Sargent has designs on tackling the four-race Princess series with the Group Two winner, starting with the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on August 21.

Fourth behind Stay Inside in the Golden Slipper, Four Moves Ahead will step out for her second barrier trial in a 1000 metre heat at Randwick on Friday.

“She will trial on Friday and she’ll go to the Silver Shadow and through the Princess series,” Sargent said.

“She is a lot stronger, more relaxed and injury-free this time, so exciting times ahead.”

Four Moves Ahead will tackle a smart heat which boasts Group One winners Shout The Bar, Nancho and Dreamforce, along with talented stablemate Brandenburg.

Brandenburg rediscovered form during the autumn and winter, finishing third to Zaaki in the Group One Doomben Cup and fourth behind the boom galloper in The Q22.

Sargent says the gelding still has to improve a couple of lengths to measure up in the better spring races, but he is hoping to take advantage of his residual fitness and pick off an early-season target, starting with either the Winx Stakes in Sydney or Memsie Stakes in Melbourne.

“He will be nice and fit when he kicks off so we’re trying to get a win early in his campaign if we can,” Sargent said.

“Then we might stretch him out to 2000 metres and if he was right in top form, we’d look to some of those good races in Melbourne in the spring.

“He just needs to improve a bit, but I think the trip made him and he will.”

Brandenburg and Four Moves Ahead will be among a team of Sargent’s horses heading to the trial session, along with Elizabeel who will be aiming to earn a spot in the $2 million The Invitation at Randwick in October.
