Just Too Fly has finally shed his maiden status with a strong victory in the Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on Saturday.
After finishing runner-up in the Perth Stakes (1100m) and Karrakatta Plate (1200m), the colt dug deep, securing a half-head win under jockey Brad Parnham.
Just Too Fly, trained by Luke Fernie, settled second and pulled away from Snitzalatte in the final stages to defeat Fila Mia and Statewide.
The victory capped a successful two-year-old carnival for Parnham, who also partnered Talkanco in the Karrakatta Plate. For managing owner Kim Doak, the win marked a significant milestone, with Just Too Fly now having earned $246,840 in prize money.
“I’ve learnt in the past few years that when Luke gets excited about a horse, I take note,” Doak said. “We just know we have a good horse in our pocket.”
Just Too Fly, a $210,000 Inglis Classic yearling, is set to target the Guineas later this year as he looks to build on his promising career.
